As of this Tuesday and until Sunday, Aachen will be hosting its prestigious annual CHIO, considered by many as the most famous equestrian meeting in the world. For the riders, the highlight of the event will of course be the Rolex Grand Prix, one of the three Grand Prixʼs counting for the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping with Calgary (CAN) and Geneva (CH).
One particular rider will be under the spotlight in Aachen: the Swiss rider Steve Guerdat. The Olympic champion won the Rolex Grand Prix in Geneva last December, kick starting his meter for the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping. By winning Aachen this year – he was fifth last year – Steve Guerdat could be the first rider to pocket the 500ʼ000 EURO bonus, awarded to two sequential Rolex Grand Prix victories, before heading off to Calgary in September. It is with his Olympic partner Nino des Buissonnets, well rested previous to Aachen, that Steve Guerdat will attempt a dream to come true, a second consecutive win on Sunday.
