The third day of the international Baborówko Equestrian Festival was dedicated to the cross-country phase, which traditionally provided plenty of excitement for both riders and spectators. Saturday’s cross-country competition brought significant changes to the standings in the most important international classes. Riders were also competing for valuable points in the Polish Senior Eventing Championships.
The highest-level competition of the day was the CCI4*L class sponsored by KUHN Maszyny Rolnicze. After a demanding cross-country test, Sweden’s Amanda Andersson riding Jersey maintained her lead. Germany’s Antonia Baumgart aboard Ris De Talm moved up into second place, while another Swedish rider, Frida Andersen with Box Leo, currently holds third. An exciting battle for victory is expected in Sunday’s show jumping phase of the most challenging class of the event.
There was also plenty of excitement in the CCI4*S class. Following the demanding cross-country course, Sweden’s Jenny Glebenius and Canela took over the lead. Katarzyna Brandys riding Sel Oscar is in second place, while Joanna Pawlak and Armin De Monsieur currently sit third. Thanks to an excellent cross-country performance, Katarzyna Brandys also moved into the lead of the Polish Senior Eventing Championships standings ahead of the final show jumping test.
In the CCI3*S class sponsored by the Wielkopolska Region, Germany’s Mathies Rüder and Hjoptimus produced the best result after the cross-country phase. Antonia Baumgart riding Blaya D'Aha Z is currently second, while Dutch rider Merel Blom-Hulsman aboard Checkpoint 46 occupies third place. The competition remains extremely close, with only 0.3 points separating the top two pairs.
Saturday also brought the conclusion of the CCI2*-S class sponsored by Agrochest under the patronage of the National Support Centre for Agriculture. Poland’s Daria Kobiernik and Las Vegas claimed victory, confirming the excellent form they have shown since the beginning of the event. Germany’s Justus Von Paepcke and Carjatan S finished second. Notably, the same horse won the CCI4-S class at Baborówko two years ago with Christoph Wahler in the saddle. Emma Wiedenhöft and Naughty Girl 5 completed the podium in third place.
The final results of the CCI1* Intro class sponsored by Fenix Horse were also decided on Saturday. Germany’s Nicolai Aldinger riding Checker W secured the victory. German Kaya Thomsen and Mamma Mia finished second, while Poland’s Kamila Fabicka aboard Locarno took third place.
